He was born on June 24, 1956 in Luray and was a son of Virginia Mae Jenkins Richards and the late Buford Walter Richards Sr.
Mr. Richards was a carpenter and a member of the Luray Pentecostal Church.
On June 25, 1977, he married the former Tammy Sue Strawderman, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his mother and his wife are three sisters, Patricia L. Richards, Edith E. Combs and Rebecca Kling, all of Luray and three brothers, Matthew and Rex A. Richards, both of Luray and Mark Richards of Stanley.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin F.'Whiskers' and Buford W. Richards Jr.
Burial in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray.
