Keith E. Bottens, 91 years, of Ashland, IL died Wednesday morning, 9 Mar 2005 at Menard Convalescent Center in Petersburg, IL.

The family lived at Fairfield, Jefferson, Iowa, USA but he and his twin brother, Kenton were actually born in a hospital in Keokuk, Iowa because of the dangers of problems when twins were born in that day. He was born 12 Sep 1913. He was a twin son of John Edward and Grace Inez (Curran) Bottens.

He married Ruby Ann (Isenhower) on 25 Mar 1945 in Ashland, IL and she preceded in death on 26 Oct 1988. He later married Dorothy Michael Coy on 28 May 1989 in Ashland, IL and she preceded in death on 30 Nov 2004.

He was survived by a son, Richard Bottens of Abbeville, SC; step sons, James Coy (wife, Jill) of Pleasant Plains and David Coy (wife, Janet) of Bloomfield, KY; a step daughter, Karen Darnell (husband, Jeff) of Ashland; three grand-children, Rick Bottens, James Bottens, and Michael Bottens, all of Abbeville, SC; several step grandchildren; a twin brother, Kenton Bottens of rural Chandlerville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a step daughter, Alice Miers, and a brother, Wilbur Kenneth Bottens, of Beardstown, Cass, IL., USA.

Mr. Bottens was a retired farmer. He formerly served on the Newmansville Township Board and drove a school bus for the Virginia School District. He was an active member of the Ashland United Methodist Church. He was a 1933 graduate of Beardstown High School. Funeral services were held 10:00 AM Sat., 12 Mar 2005 at the Ashland United Methodist Church in Ashland with burial in Ashland Cemetery.
