Welch Services Held in Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tex., Sept. 15 (Special) - Funeral services for Mrs. L.G. Welch, who died Sunday afternoon at her home eight miles southeast of Memphis, were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the First Baptist Church of Memphis. Rev. R.L. Self, pastor of the Baptist Church at Estelline, officiated.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery here under direction of Murphy-Spicer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Welch, 60, who had been in failing health for some time, suffered a stroke a few hours prior to her death.
A native of Mount Pleasant, Tex., she was born June 4, 1893. She was Rose Erving Smith until her marriage to L.G. Welch in Titus County, Tex., Jan. 12, 1912.
The couple came to Hall County in 1915 and had lived near Memphis ever since.
Mrs. Welch was a member of the First Baptist Church here.
Among survivors are her husband; three sons, L.G. Welch Jr., Memphis, Eugene Welch, Clarendon, and Billy Buck Welch, with the U.S. armed forces in Germany; five daughters, Miss Bobby Jo Welch, Memphis; Miss Pauline Welch, Abilene; Mrs. C.T. Yeary, Lubbock; and Mrs. Pat Lynch and Mrs. T.D. Richey, both of Amarillo; a sister, Mrs. Hettie Tracy of Denison; and 12 grandchildren.
Another son, Leon Welch, died earlier this year.
