PFC Douglas, Heavy Mortar Company, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, was initially listed as Missing in Action, while fighting enemy forces during a major withdrawal of the 2nd Infantry Division from the area of Kunu-ri N. Korea. On December 31, 1953, his status was changed to presumed Killed in Action Remains Not Recovered. Douglas' name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing. He was awarded the Purple Heart & Combat Infantry Badge.
