Peacefully on Sunday April 27th at the Carveth Care Centre in her 97th year. Jean was an only child of the late William B and Loretta Hebert Reid. Jean was married to Herbert Erle Allan in 1936 and later divorced. She was a very special friend of the late Ted Cameron for many, many years. Jean lived in Ottawa for 40 years and thoroughly enjoyed her employment at the House of Commons. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Gananoque and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 50 years. She was a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Carveth Nursing Home, an active member of the Gananoque Branch of the KGH Auxiliary, a supporting member of the Gananoque Historical Society and a member of the Gananoque Seniors group. At the request of Jean, there will be no visitation. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Stone Street South, Gananoque on Thursday May 1, at 11:00 am with Rev. Kate Jordan officiating. Interment at Willowbank Cemetery at a later date. A reception to follow immediately in Gracey Hall, hosted by the ladies of St. Andrew's. Prior to the service, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority will conduct their memoriam Ceremony. For those wishing, donations made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to the Carveth Care Centre Activation Department would be appreciated.
