Florence Louise Gilbert, age 82, of Louisiana, Missouri, passed away early Thursday morning, January 14, 2010, at the Warsaw Health & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, Missouri.

She was born in Louisiana, Missouri, on August 10, 1927, the daughter of James Henry and Laura Ethel Ince Pollard.

She grew up in Pike County, Missouri, and graduated from the Louisiana High School in the class of 1945. On May 15, 1948, she was united in marriage to Ralph Allan Yaeger in Louisiana. They made their home in St. Louis, Missouri. Unto this union two sons were born. Mr. Yaeger passed away in June of 1961.

Florence returned to make her home in Louisiana where she was employed as a teacher's aide at the Louisiana Elementary School and the Middle School. From 1975 to 1980 she served as the secretary for the Louisiana High School. In 1980 she became the receptionist and purchasing agent at Hercules, Inc. later changed to IRECO and then DYNO. She retired in 1991.

On November 17, 1990, she was married to Wilford L. Gilbert and they continued to make their home in Louisiana.

In February of 2008 she became a resident at the Warsaw Health & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, Missouri.

Florence was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Louisiana, Missouri.

She was a very "prim & proper" lady who always liked to dress for the occasion whether it was going to church or a family gathering. She enjoyed reading and puzzles, shopping trips and dining out, but she especially cherished getting her family together for holidays or just a weekend visit.

Florence is survived by her husband, Wilford, who is a resident at the Tri-County Nursing Home in Vandalia, Missouri; two sons, Drake Allan Yaeger, and his wife, Sally, of Warsaw, Missouri, and Drew Allan Yaeger, and his wife, Judi, of Woodridge, Illinois; and three grandchildren, Dallas Yaeger, of Warsaw, and Rebecca & Sarah Yaeger, of Woodridge.

She is also, survived by two step-sons, Dennis Gilbert, and his wife, Patti, of Frankford, Missouri, and Robert Gilbert, and his wife, Kathy, of Wellsville, Missouri, and one step-daughter, Fay Miller, and her husband, Jeff, of Curryville, Missouri, nine step-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Warsaw High School Vocal Music Department in care of the funeral home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday evening, January 21, 2010, at the River Church in Warsaw, Missouri, with a visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the church.
