Was apparently a gunsmith with the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. His siblings were Minerva, Mahala, Prudence and Jane Howard. A photograph exists of them all together in their later years. 1880 New Haven, CT census working in armory age 57. In his will dated 8/30/1900, he lists his heirs as son Arthur L. Howard, Brownsburg, Canada; daughter Estella Jerollman New Haven, CT; son Oscar A. Howard Rome, NY; son Albert W. Howard Cromwell, CA and wife Harriet N. Howard.
