JAMES EMMET ALLEN was born May 12, 1892. He worked for the railroad and lived and raised his family in Waseca, Minnesota. After his wife passed away he stopped by to visit with Bessie Dornack, who he had known from railroad employee gatherings. The romance began.

Jim was a kind and gentle person who was willing to help anyone at any time. He had a good sense of humor and was always well dressed. Jim always thought that Bessie's name was "Betty" so that is what he called her. They married on May 19, 1962 and had many wonderful years together traveling to visit family and friends all over the country. After their marriage they moved to Trempealeau, Wisconsin. Jim had family in Texas so for many years they spent the winters there. As Jim's health declined they decided to sell their home and move to Onalaska where Bessie's son lived.

Jim died Friday, March 9th, 1979 at the age of 86. His serivce was conducted at the United Methodist Church in Onalaska and he was buried in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson, Minnesota near Bessie's family.
