-- HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Malcolm R. Hinson Sr., 76, of Heath Springs, died on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia.

The funeral will be Thursday at Heath Springs Baptist Church, with the Revs. Paul Smith and Gary Harris officiating. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Hinson was a son of the late Lance Lot and Eunice Faulkenberry Hinson. He was a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church, which was founded by his great-great grandfather, was a deacon, was chairman of the building and grounds committee, and attended the fellowship Sunday school class. He was retired from Bowater Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Joanne Faile Hinson; two daughters, Cheryl Bass of Lancaster and Pam Wood of Statesboro, Ga.; two sons, Malcolm "Rick" Hinson Jr. of Heath Springs and David Hinson of Kershaw; his sister, Shirley Caskey of Naples, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren, his step-great-great grandson; and his sister, Shirley Caskey.
