Tony Calvin Watkins Sr., 70, of Wardell, died Dec. 9, 2009.
He was born Nov. 7, 1939 at Concord to the late P.A. and Willie Camp Watkins Sr.
Jan. 14, 1962, in Caruthersville, Tony was united in marriage to Phyllis Ford.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a member and deacon of the Wardell Baptist Church in Wardell. He was also a member of the Lions Club. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family. He was a self-employed farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, P.A. and Willie Camp Watkins Sr. and a brother, P.A. Watkins Jr.
He leaves his wife, Phyllis Watkins of Wardell; three sons, Tony Watkins Jr. and his wife Mande of Charleston, MO, Johnny Watkins and his wife Vonda of Wardell and David Watkins and his wife Victoria of Agua Dulie, CA; sister, Delores Shires and her husband of Fruitland Park, FL; two brothers, Lee Watkins and his wife Geraldine of Wardell and Norris Watkins and his wife Delores of Wardell; eight grandchildren and one on the way; three great grandchildren and one on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral Services were held Dec. 12, 2009 in the Wardell Baptist Church in Wardell with Rev. Griff Walker officiating. Burial was held in the Woodland (Woodlawn) Cemetery in Hayti.
