Daughter of John Lepper, a soldier of the Revolution, and Mary Prime(Braeme). According to a list of damaged headstones at the De Witt Museum there is a fragment that reads: MARTHAT(?)____ wife of _anford". The Mather name was also spelled "Marthar" for several generations in the 19th Century.

Her son William's obit states she had 5 sons and seven daughter.

The 1850 and 1856 Iowa censuses list the children:

Adelaide/Nancy *

Alice

* (Nancy who was 2 months old in 1850 is likely Adelaide who was 6 in 1856.)
