Funeral for Lowell Stinson, 71, of Decatur will be Monday, December 7, 2009, at noon at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mitchell Williams officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.
Mr. Stinson, who died Friday, December 4, 2009, at Decatur General Hospital, was born August 28, 1938, in Morgan County to Albert and Lillian Stinson. He was the owner of Allstate-Lowell Stinson Agency, Inc. for 40 years. He was an Elder for 23 years in the Christian church and served as a lay speaker to small churches without a minister. Mr. Stinson was an active member of Central United Methodist Church for the past nine years and served on various committees. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Peggy McInnis.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Couch Stinson; three daughters, Cindy Whitley (David) of Atlanta, Tina Wofford (Curtis) of Decatur and Lane Burns (Mike) of Decatur; one brother, Lindall Stinson (Sandra) of Los Angeles, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Alyson and Tyler Whitley, Austin and Elizabeth Wofford and Link and Tanner Burns.
Pallbearers will be David Whitley, Curtis Wofford, Mike Burns, Keith Andrews, Jonathon Parker and Will Stanford.
