Funeral services for Floyd Skinner will be held on Saturday, Oct 31, 2009 at noon in the Bedford LDS Church. Viewings will take place on Friday, Oct 30, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the Schwab Funeral Chapel in Thayne and again on Saturday, Oct 31, from 10-11:45 a.m. prior to funeral services at the church.
Floyd F. Skinner, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother of Bedford Wyoming passed away Oct 22, 2009 in his daughters home in Bedford. Floyd was born on Aug 29, 1923 to Joseph Alma Jr. and Anna Fluckiger Skinner. He was the 6th of 11 children.
Floyd attended grade school in Bedford and attended high school in Afton where he was active in several organizations. He graduated from High School in May of 1941. After which he attended the aviation Institute in Denver Colo.
He married Dorothy Alleman on Nov 12, 1943 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Seven children were born to this union, Gary Darrel, Robert Floyd, Bruce M., Joseph Kay, Valorie Stokes, Lucinda Ann Heiner and Sonia Coziah.
Floyd joined the Army Air Corps in Nov. 1943 and served in Puerto Rico for two years where he worked repairing airplanes.
After returning home from the war, Floyd worked in several places before settling in Bedford with a job at the Star Valley Cheese Co-Op. He worked there for 35 years, retiring in 1986.
Floyd loved the out of doors. He loved to go camping with his family he loved to go fishing and hunting and he enjoyed bowling. He was happiest when he was busy whether he was working or enjoying time with his family. He loved to travel with his wife and grandchildren.
Floyd was an active member of the LDS Church where he served in many positions through the years. He was Bishop of the Bedford ward for 5 1/2 years from 1984-1990.
Floyd and Dorothy served a mission for the LDS Church in the Atlanta Temple in Atlanta Ga., from Nov. 1991 to April 1993.
Floyd was a man of great honesty and integrity who had a great love for his fellow man. He worked in the service of others all the days of his life. He will be remembered as a hard working, generous, kind man and a friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Alma and Anna Skinner, Son Gary Darrel Skinner, brothers: LeRoy (Zelta) , Wayne and Dean Skinner, Sisters: Vanessa (Wendel Ransom, Rhea (Walter) Clark and Verna Skinner; Brother-in-law James Clark.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Skinner, Sons: Robert (LeAnna) Bruce (Susan) and Joseph Kay (Diane) Skinner his Daughter-in-law Emma Skinner, daughters Valorie (Lynn) Stokes, Lucinda (Jim) Heiner, and Sonia (Mike) Coziah; his Brothers; Wilbert (Relia) Blain (DeAnn) and Jay (Carolyn) Skinner and his sister Verda Clark, sister-in-laws Marva Judy and Carma Skinner, 34 grandchildren, and 71 great grandchildren.
