CLEMENT, Mrs. Riley - With stealthy steps came the rider of the pale horse to the home of Mrs. Riley Clement last Friday morning, and entering at the open door, claimed for his own the mainstay and prop of that home, the mother. No grief is there so great upon this earth as that which comes to the hearts of loving children when mother dies. A place is vacant in their lives which can never be filled. Wealth, honor and power may come but still the heart turns from all with a yearning for mother that will not be satisfied. Coming to this country when but a small child the deceased grew to womanhood here and was known and loved by a large circle of friends. Left a widow some ten years ago she, by her own unaided exertions, reared her family of four children, two boys and two girls, until they are all but one arrived at their majority. Feeling the near approach of death, some two weeks or more ago she set her house in order, giving explicit directions as to the manner of conducting her burial services. A consistent member of the Baptist church she expressed her resignation to the will of God and was ready to go when the summons came. The remains were interred in the Odd Fellows' Cemetery on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community. A Friends.
