Laura Lee MacLean Abington Laura Lee (Whiting) MacLean, 52, a life long resident of Abington, died Sunday October 11 in her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved mother of Tracey MacLean of Abington. Born in Brockton and raised in Abington she was the loving daughter of the late Dr. George L. Whiting, Mary L. (Rogers) Whiting, Marion L. (Francis) Whiting and a graduate of Abington High School Class of 1975. Laura received her Bachelors Degree in Business in 1995 from Eastern Nazarene College and her Masters Degree, also in Business, in 1998 from Anna Marie College. She started her career in contracting with the U.S. Government in 1977 at the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Command in Warren, MI until 1988. She then transferred to the Natick Contracting Division at the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center in Natick, MA where she remained until her retirement in 2009. Laura Lee loved visiting with her family and friends and was always close with her family. She enjoyed spending time with them and her many nieces, nephews and their children. She loved walking along the beach, visiting Bermuda, just relaxing on her back porch or floating on a raft in her pool. In addition to her loving daughter Tracey, she is sur-vived by her brothers and sisters: Atty. George L. Whiting, Jr. and his wife Cindi, retired Abington Fire Chief Malcolm Whiting and his wife Pamela, Betty Hannigan and her husband Michael, Dan Carroll and his wife Barbra all of Abington, Mary Lou Ripley and her hus- band Jeff of Pembroke, Roger Whiting and his former wife Laurie both of East Bridgewater, and Robert Carroll and his wife Lyn of Easton; her mother-in law Eleanor MacLean of Abington as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close friends Linda Prada of Plymouth, Denise Libby of Whitman and her new found friend with whom we offer many thanks and whose friendship was invaluable during her illness, Jo Ann Cullen. Laura Lee was predeceased by her sister Sandra (Carroll) Morgan and her dear friend Donna Brooks with whom she went to junior high and high school. Special thanks for the excellent oncology care she was given at Faulkner Hospital by Dr. Rochelle Sheib, Nurse Practitioner Peggy Leland and Nurse Kathy Reinhardt.
