Jane Biggar Morgan, daughter of George and Ann White Biggar, was born October 4, 1851 in Huntingdon, Quebec. Her family on both her father's and mother's sides settled there, coming to this continent from Scotland. her wather was in a general store in Huntington and in 1872 moved to Corning. Jane Biggar Morgan was the eldest of eight children. She was married to Lester b. Morgan and after her marriage lived in Chicago for a period. She was a teacher in Corning Schools in the early Corning Days.
In 1880, Mrs. Morgan went to Omaha and lived there continously since that time until her death January 25, 1930. The body was brought to Corning Saturday morning and funeral services were conducted at the Hilliard Funeral Home, Sunday afternoon with Rev. N. E. Lambly in charge, assisted by Rev. Morgan. Interment was made in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
She is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Fred E. Pearce of Omaha, Mrs. D. L. Gilbert of Ohio, and Mrs. M. B. Shortliff, Tucson, Arizona. her nieces are Mrs. Clarence Rubendall, Omaha, Mrs. Robert W. Turner, Council Bluffs, Mrs. Paul T. Robinson, Tucson, Arizona, Mrs. M. C. Loomis, Lincoln, Nebraska, and nephews, William J. Biggar, Corning and David A. Gilbert of Warren, Ohio.
Mrs. Morgan was loved for her sunny disposition and cheerful outlook on life and other fine qualities which will be remembered lovingly by her many Corning friends. She was a sister to James Biggard, for many yeaars a merchant in Corning, who preceded her in death a number of years ago.
