Elizabeth Long was the daughter
of Rev. George W. Long 1 and
Nancy Elizabeth 'Maples.' It's possible
she was born in 1810?

NOTE: According to the 1850 census,
and taken on the 5th of October of 1850, she
is listed at the age of 40. So it's possible
she had her birthday or if it was sometime
later in Oct., Nov. or December, it would
make her 41 and being born in 1810?

She was married to Joseph Morton,
April 4, 1828, in Tennessee.

Elizabeth was the mother of 8 known
children:
George
John
Joseph
Mary
Ruth
Sillas
Thomas
William

NOTE: In the 1850 U.S. Census, taken
in McMinn Co., the 5th of October,
her mother, Nancy 'Elizabeth' Long
was living with her and family. At
this time, Nancy Elizabeth 'Maples'
Long was age 75, her daughter Elizabeth
was age 40 at the time of the census.
It is thought by this researher and family
member that Elizabeth and Joseph had moved
into her mother's home to take care of
her in McMinn County, Tennessee.
Each one didn't live much longer. The
Morton's had always lived in Blount
Co., Tennessee and after Elizabeth's
death between 1850/52 Joseph Morton had
moved back to Blount Co., Tn. Elizabeth's
sister, Nancy 'Long' Longley's family
also lived in Blount Co., Tn.

Notice her first two son's
names, George & John. Her husband's
father was named William. First
daughter was named Mary. Joseph's
mother was named Margaret. Could
the children be named for her
grandparents? Just a thought.

Research is on going to find where
Elizabeth 'Long' Morton is buried.
And exactly when she died. Some
researchers list her in Walker Co.,
Georgia, but I have found no records
showing her and Joseph had moved
to Georgia.

It is believed that Elizabeth "Long"
Morton, her sister, Nancy "Long" Longley
and their mother, Nancy Elizabeth Long
all died within 2/3 years of one
another.It's possible that Elizabeth
died before her mother?

New Info: Elizabeth Morton was listed in
the Oct. 1850 census.

Joseph had re-married to Lee Ann
sometime before the 1860 census.
They were the parents of 11
children. Joseph was the father
of 26 children, having one when he
was 75. It was a little girl,age 1,
listed in the 1880 census. They had
moved back to Blount Co., Tn., where
he was born and raised.
