Mary Jane was the daughter of Samuel and Jane Cook and granddaughter of Peter Cook and Maria Susanna Carpenter. Mary married Edmund Morris Mays around 1848 and settled in the Davis Creek area. She had 11 children with her husband and lived to be 89 years old. She is buried next to her daughter, Mary Mays Clark and her husband.
