Wife of Fred Adams Newell.
Married Feb 15, 1895.
Fred & Katie were only married 3 yrs when she died, no children.
When Katie died, Fred had a watch/key fob braided out of some strands of her long hair, and attached his wedding ring to it. I understand after researching this, it was very common in the victorian days as a memorial/keepsake.
Fred later married Fannie Aylsworth.
After his 2nd wife, Fannie, the mother of his 3 children died, he gave the watch/key fob to their daughter Mary. He told her all about Katie, and how much she meant to him. It was very precious to him and he'd kept it all through the years and now wanted Mary to cherish and keep it.
Late in Marys life, she passed the watch/key fob down to her son Fred, and told the story about her daddy being married before to another woman and how much he loved her. One day it will be passed to Freds daughter.
Katie must have been a very special woman, the few years Fred had with her.
