Catherine's first husband was Hiram Thomas, who died March 2, 1871. (He is buried in Cass County MO; was in 1870 census with Catherine - findagrave record about him says birthdate 1852, but stone says age 27, so his birthdate 1843-1844, aligning with age 27 in 1870 census).

DEATH OF MRS. AMICK
Mrs. Catherine Bennett Amick, who suffered a stroke of paralysis some days ago, died in Cairo Sunday February 9th.
Funeral services were held this morning, conducted by Rev. Copher? of this city.
Mrs. Amick was the daughter of James and Mary Bennett and was born in Helena County June 15, 1849, being 59 years, 5 months, and 28 days at the time of her death.
On August 11, 1878, she was married to Jack Amick. Of this union, four children were born being J. F. Amick, and Mesdames Owens, McDaniel, and Harlan.
Mrs. Amick united with the Christian Church when sixteen years of age and lived an excellent and model Christian.
Besides the immediate family, there is left a large circle ralatives and a large circle of . friends to mourn the death of the deceased.

Mrs. Catherine Amick Leaves her Estate to Three of Her Children
The will of Mrs. Catherine Amick, who died near Cairo, has been filed for probate.
She leaves her estate to three of her children, Nina G. Owens, James F. Amick and Zula McDaniel, each to have a fourth interest.
The remaining interest should go to her daughter Mrs. Olive Harlan but Mrs.(sic) Amick directs that no money or property be given her daughter as long as she remains the wife of Presley Harlan.
Mrs. Amick makes it very clear in her will that her son-in-law Presley Harlan is not to share in her estate.
James F. Amick and James II Owens are named as executors.
