A gentile lady, Phyllis Ann (Kuhlman) Alexander, formerly of Toledo and Findlay, Ohio, died at home Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Birchaven Heights, Findlay.

Born August 14, 1924, in Toledo, to Norman and Lucille (Hiltner) Kuhlman, Phyllis graduated from Woodward High School and Stautzenberger College.

She worked for Ohio Bell prior to meeting and marrying Maurice S. Alexander (deceased) on November 22, 1947. Phyllis, along with her husband, Maurie, opened and operated the Findlay Hearing Aid Center from 1954 to 1987. She was a longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, active in the Martha Circle and Luther Club. Phyllis also served as president of the LaSertoma Club.

Surviving Phyllis are her brother, Norman (Pat) Kuhlman of Maumee; her children, Dr. Donald (Ellen) Alexander of Findlay, Barbara (Robert) Warner of Toledo, and John (Patricia) Alexander of San Diego, CA, and grandchildren, Matthew and Kelli Alexander; Robert, Lynn, Michelle and Rebecca Warner; Jessica and Joshua Alexander; along with dear sisters-in-law, Mary and Lucy Alexander and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Lifetime and new friends alike shared with the family that Phyllis was such a nice lady and how delighted they were to have known her.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 - 6 p.m. at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 17th at 10 a.m. at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home with Michael Thompson, Birchaven Chaplain officiating. Entombment service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Mausoleum at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

The family extends sincere appreciation to the caregivers and staff of Birchaven Heights, Home Instead, Bridge Hospice and Bridge Personal Care.
