Known to most people simply as Mr. Mac, he owned a chain of drive-in restaurants known as Frostop in the Memphis area. Frostop #1 was located on Getwell Road. The building remained standing and was used for many other businesses and eventually was demolished sometime in the 1990's. Other Frostops were located in Whitehaven, Frayser and the other area escapes me at this time.

In addition, Mr. Mac owned Good Foods Inc and also ran his wife's business, Mrs. Drakes Catering/Sandwich's which was located at 147 E. Butler Ave in Memphis. Together the couple had one of the best catering businesses in the city and the logo for Mrs. Drakes was "Quacking Good!".

Mr. Mac was married to Nora McHand and had one son by her, Guy Ellis McHand, Jr. who was born Dec. 28, 1937 and died July 25, 2001. n addition, Mr Mac had a significant long term relationship of 50 years with Marie Billings. This included a business relationship as well as a romantic relationship and together they had a daughter, Angelia Marie McHand who still survives. He is survived by several grand-children, great-grandchildren and a multitude of friends.

Mr. Mac was active in the Oak Acres Church of Christ and a bible school teacher. He made significant contributions to the Memphis School of Preaching.

Mr. Mac's life was cut short by an aneurysm. He was in the hospital for many weeks before passing away. He was well liked by many and his funeral was well attended. He passed away before his wife who was in a nursing home.
