Begay died Aug. 14, 2009, in Gallup. She was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Littlewater.
Begay was a rug weaver, silver smith, and rancher. She was employed for the Navajo Nation (CETA) Program for many years as a supervisor.
She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbert John Begay of Shiprock; sons, Woodie Ben Tom of Littlewater, Bahe Tom of Milan, Jaymes W. Tom of Crownpoint, Jones W. Tom of Littlewater, Edison Woody of Smithlake, Alexander Tom of Littlewater, Samuel Tom of Littlewater; eight step-children of Shiprock; daughters, Bessie Enrico of Littlewater, Sadie M. Woodie of Littlewater, Louise Woodie of Littlewater, Bernice T. Benally of Becenti; parents, Marguerito Castillo, Yah-de-bah Castillo; brothers, John Woody, Tommy Woody; 82 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Begay was preceded in death by her husband, Little Tom; daughter, Lillian T. Ration; son, Samson Tom; sister, Elsie Tom; brother, Frank H. Woody Sr.; two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bahe Tom, Jaymes W. Tom, Jones W. Tom, Alexander Tom, Samuel Tom, Alexis Tom.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Rock of Ages Church, Littlewater.
