J.M. Anderson, 59, of Amarillo, died early yesterday morning in the home of a son, Homer T. Anderson, at Phillips.

Anderson attended W.T.S. College at Canyon and Baylor University and had lived in Texas since he was 10 years.

From 1908 until 1914 he was superintendent of Dalhart schools and in 1917 superintended the Texline schools.

From there he went to San Antonio where he was a principal. Later he moved to Canyon to manage a service station and garage and even later, 1920, was principal of the Canyon High School, until ill health forced him to retire.

Besides the widow, Anderson is survived by two sons, Homer T. and J. M. Anderson, Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Turner of Waco, Mrs. L.D. Shawver of Perrin, Mrs. Velma Brock, Bridgeport, and Mrs. Effie McAfee, Bridgeport.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock in the Powell Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. H.J. West, Phillips Baptist pastor, officiating.
