SOUTH PARIS - Alonzo Hodgdon, 83, of So Paris, passed away May 21, 2007, at the Hospice House. He was born in South Paris on February 8, 1924, the son of Alonzo Hodgdon Jr. and Myrtle Mildred Libby, and attended schools in So. Paris and Buckfield. He served in the military during World War II as a drill instructor, medical aid man, and low target reel operator. Mr. Hodgdon was a shoemaker at B.E. Cole and Norway Footwear, and was also a woodworker at Wilner Wood Products, Paris Gladding, and A.C. Lawrence Tannery. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, motorcycles, and flying. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Katherine L. Tripp; a brother, Glenwood F. Hodgdon, and two infant grandsons, Brian and Matthew Hodgdon. He is survived by a daughter, Paula Allen of Harrison; two sons, Brian Hodgdon of Oxford and Steven Hodgdon of South Paris; two sisters, Mary Britton of South Paris, and Bertha Reiman of Oxford, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside services was held Tuesday in the Streaked Mountain Cemetery. Memorial donations maybe made to the Colon Cancer Institute or Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.
