* The following story was written by Lena and Joseph's family for a Gaudet Family Reunion in Canada that was held in July of 2003.

Jacqueline Gaudet was nicknamed Lena. The fourth child of John Peter and Marie Sophie (Bernard) Gaudet. She was born in Saint Louis, P.E.I on May 23, 1900. She lived on the family farm with her parents, sisters and brothers in St. Edward's known as Smith Road.

She married Joseph Glorice Gallant (born in Mt. Carmel, September 14, 1898), son of John and Mathilda (Blacquir) Gallant, in Mont Carmel in 1918. Their home had hardwood floors, oil lamps for light and a wood stove, which was used for both cooking and heating. For entertainment, they had house parties. They attended church on Palmer Road and as children they traveled to church by horse and buggy. Both were brought up Catholic and they raised their family as such. Jacqueline and Joseph had six children. When Reginald was born in 1919, they moved to Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, USA were Joseph worked at the time. They moved again to Cuba Street, Andover, Massachusetts, and had their next four children; Eleanor, Roland, Mary and Clarence. At this time, Joseph worked at Tyer Rubber Company, as did much of the Gaudet family. They had one more move to make; that was to County Road, Andover, where they had their last child, Francis.

She was Naturalized a US citizen as Mary Jacqueline Gallant by the Superior Court of Lawrence, Massachusetts, Essex County, on March 11th, 1949. She also registered and was approved to vote on October 1st, 1952 in Andover.

The family liked music. Reginald and Roland were handy in carpentry and they both enjoyed football. Mary didn't like school but was made to go. All of her children enjoyed the holidays and she would always have a place in her home for them to hide the gifts from "Santa Clause" to surprise their own children on Christmas morning. She would knit mittens, hats, and slippers for her grandchildren. Lena liked working in the garden and making clothes for her family. In her later life, she worked in restaurants and the mills in Andover, MA. Her grandchildren especially remember her biscuits.

Jacqueline died at the age of 73 on June 7th, 1973. Joseph died two years later at the age of 77 on January 10th, 1975. Jacqueline enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed her family and her friends. She was loved by all.
