Emmons—A message from Ogdensburg on Sunday announced the death of Roy Emmons, aged 77 years, a veteran of the Civil War, who formerly lived in this city. He was a retired farmer, and for years resided near Brewerton. The body was taken to Brewerton for burial. His wife died here last week of influenza.

First wife=Mary E. Landers married on Jan 31, 1867. She died Feb. 25, 1868
Second wife=Madora A. Foster married on April 10, 1869. She was born June 28, 1847 and died Dec 16, 1888.
Mr. Emmons enlisted at Brewerton, Sept. 3, 1862, in Co. H., 149th Regt. N. Y. S. Inf. Vols., Robert E. Hopkins, Captain, and H. A. Barnum, Colonel. He was with his regiment in nearly all of its engagements with the enemy, and in its march under Gen. Sherman, from Chattanooga to Savannah. At the Battle of Chancellorsville, a bullet clipped a piece from his left ear, missing the jugular vein by an eighth of an inch. He was promoted a corporal, and was color bearer on the return march from Savannah to Raleigh, NC. He was present at the final muster June 22, 1865.
