NICKELSON

Marion Winifred Briggs Nickelson was born Oct. 29, 1932, in Roxbury, Mass., the daughter of Arthur Harris Hamilton and Charlotte Winifred Schmidt. She was one of 10 children.

She was united in marriage to Eugene Norton. To this marriage three children were born; Sandra Marion, Michael Roger and Daniel Timothy.

Later she was remarried to Donald Walker Briggs Sr. To this marriage five children were born; Lori Dianne, Donald Walker Jr., James Phillip, Sherri Lynn and Terry Lee.

Later she was remarried to Donald Nickelson.

Marion enjoyed her family and friends. She loved people and helping people who were less fortunate than herself. She also enjoyed crocheting, visiting shut-ins, and those hospitalized. She loved being outdoors, fishing and being along the water because she said the water gave her a sense of calm and peacefulness.

Because she always wore a smile on her face, she was like a ray of sunshine. She was always interested in brightening others' days. She was a strong person and endured many hardships and trials. She taught her children that faith was something that no one could give you, yet it was also something that no one could take away from you.

She spent her life caring for her children. She also enjoyed her grandchildren immensely. She had an iron will and a spunky spirit. She never gave up. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Donald Briggs and Donald Nickelson; one son, James; an infant daughter; brothers, Arthur and Stanley; and a sister, Frances; and one grandson, Alex Weldon.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Norton, of Des Moines; Michael and Daniel Norton, of Brockton, Mass.; Lori Weldon and husband, Greg, of Knoxville; Don Briggs, of St. Joseph, Mo.; Sherri Williams and husband, Jay, of Weldon; and Terry Briggs.

She is also survived by her brothers, Walter Hamilton, of Hemet, Calif.; Robert Hamilton, of South Boston, Mass.; George Hamilton, of Brockton, Mass.; sisters, Ethel Barry, of South Boston, Mass.; and Marie Ann Rogers, of Quincy, Mass; 17 grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
