Graveside services for Allen L. Akins, 89, of Conroe will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 1 p.m. in Garden Park Cemetery with Chaplain Hamilton officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 22, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
Mr. Akins was born on June 20, 1916 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully at home with his family on February 19, 2006. He served his country as a staff sergeant in the 1337th U.S. Army Air Force Base Unit during WWII.
His loving wife of 57 years, Ilene Akins, son, Thomas Akins, and his sister, Cloellen, all preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Timothy and wife Sheree of Conroe; daughter, Tammy of Conroe; daughter-in-law, Ruth of Henderson, Nevada; brother, Dwight of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Daniel, Patrick, Stephen, Justin, Valerie, Nicole, Samantha; and two great grandchildren, Blake and Brooke.
