The correct spelling is Hoyt and not Hoit. In her husbands notes, he says that the enlisting officer for the military spelled his name incorrectly as Hoit. References are consistently seen shown both spellings.

Moses and Almira married 28 Mar 1888 in Smithville, DeKalb, Tennessee. This was just days after his second wife, Minerva (Foote) Hoyt passed away on 1 Mar 1888 in Smithville.
