Jonathan M. Bogli, age 34, of Effort, passed away May 19 at home.

He was the husband of Melissa (McMaster) Bogli. They had been married for eight years. They were teenage sweethearts and have been together for 18 years.

Jonathan was born in Hackettstown, N.J., on May 25, 1974, the son of Debbie (Henry) Emery and her husband, Gordon, of Saylorsburg and John Bogli of Easton.

He had worked at Clear Run Elementary Center in the Pocono Mountain School District as a fourth-grade special education teacher. Prior to that he had worked for the Colonial IU Unit No. 20 at the Pleasant Valley Elementary as a teacher and mental health worker for eight years.

Jonathan graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in Brodheadsville in 1992. He continued his education at East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, graduating in 1998 with a bachelor of science degree in sociology and criminal justice. In 2008, he graduated with his master's degree in special education from East Stroudsburg University.

Some of the great joys in life for Jonathan were snowboarding, mountain biking and spending the day fishing with his children. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State fan. He belonged to the PA Boys 4 Wheeling Club.

We give thanks for the precious time we shared with Jonathan and he will be deeply missed by his wife, Melissa, and his children, Jonathan "JJ" Bogli Jr. and Brynn Bogli of Effort; his mother, Debbie and husband Gordon; his father, John Bogli; his paternal grandmother, Dorine Emery of Washington, N.J.; maternal grandmother, Marjorie Henry of Washington, N.J.; mother-in-law, Gloria Purin and husband James of Cape Coral, Fla.; father-in-law, Edward McMaster and his wife, Marlene, of Stroudsburg; three aunts: Diane Thompson of Bath, Barbara Gold and her husband, David, of Waretown, N.J., and Linda Long and her husband, Bill, of Easton; one uncle, Donald Henry and his wife, Roberta, of Washington, N.J.; cousins: Laura, Donald, Zachary and Stephanie; two sisters-in-law, Meridith Megna and husband, Frank, of Saylorsburg and Christine Kostecky and husband, Michael, of Tuscorora; and brother-in-law, James Purin and wife, Angela, of Tamaqua.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, with the Rev. Keyone Yu officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. Saturday, May 23, until time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for his children C/O Melissa Bogli, 166 Rocky Mt. Drive South, Effort, PA 18330.
