Charles is my great grandfather. He was renown around Rockingham County Virginia as a man who could fix just about anything mechanical. He owned the foundry in Broadway.

He was one of the charter members of Broadway Baptist Church, which was founded on September 24, 1892. He was also the first clerk of the church.

Charles' obituary appeared in The Daily News-Records, Harrisonburg, Virginia, on Monday, April 3, 1939:

" C.G. Trumbo of Broadway Dies

Foundry Operator and Farmer To Be Buried Today.

Charles G. Trumbo, operator of the Broadway Foundry and well known farmer of the Timberville section, died at Rockingham Memorial Hospital Saturday morning at eleven o'clock following a brief illness from pneumonia.

He had resided on his farm four miles northwest of Timberville until a year ago when he operated the Broadway Foundry and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. T.C. Hulvey. He was a graduate of the University of Richmond and was a skilled mechanic and educated man.

Mr. Trumbo is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Hulvey, Mrs. George Lindamood, of near Timberville and Mrs. H.T. Whetzel, Broadway and two sons, Leonard and Neville Trumbo.
