"Mrs. Electa M. Church died at her home on Broad street last Saturday night at 9 o'clock. She had been in failing health for several years but was confined to her bed only about a month, during which time she took no nourishment. Deceased was born in Orangeville, N. Y., November 20, 1828, consequently had passed her eighty-first birthday. Her maiden name was Electa Merrill. She was married to Darius J. Church of Canfield November 3, 1852, the result of their union being two children – Mrs. John T. McConnell, who died two years ago, and Fred J. Church, who survives. Mr. Church passed away in the fall of 1896. During her long residence in Canfield, 58 years, Mrs. Church endeared herself to a wide circle of friends. She was indeed a noble woman, kind and generous, and her memory will ever be cherished by all who knew her. She was for many years a member of the Presbyterian church. Funeral services held from the family residence Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 were private. Rev. William Dickson of Youngstown, long pastor of the local Presbyterian church, conducted the services, paying eloquent tribute to the memory of the deceased. He was assisted by Rev. R. E. Pugh. The pallbearers were A. S. Porter, Dr. Campbell, John Taber, R. A. Manchester, R. A. Brown and C. C. Fowler. Interment was made in the family lot in the village cemetery."
