Died on the 16th of April, 1870, in Clay County, Indiana John Royer, aged 65 years, 9 months and 12 days.

He was buried on the 18th at Funk's burying-ground, where a large assembly of friends and relatives followed him to the grave. Funeral discourses were delivered by Elias Michler and David Oberholtzer, from Rev. 14:13.

He was a consistent member and a deacon in the Mennonite church. He leaves a widow and seven children to mourn their loss.
