Mrs. Christine Aberle passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 25, at a hospital in Alexandria after an illness of about three weeks duration.
Christine Hess was born Aug. 13, 1861 at Rothenburg, Germany. At the time of her passing she was 81 years, 1 month and 12 days old. In 1880, she came to America, to Alexandria, and has made this city her home since.
She was married in 1880 to Christian Aberle at the Zion Lutheran church, they being the first couple to be wed in the then new church. In her earlier years she was very active in church work, and was a member of the Ladies Aid, serving as the treasurer of that organization many years. Mrs. Aberle was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor and will be missed by all who were privileged to know her.
Mrs. Aberle is survived by seven children. Two daughters, Lillian and Caroline preceded her in death. The children are Fred of Tacoma, Wash.; Ray of Temple City, Calif.; Mrs. C. A. (Pauline) McCabe of St. Paul; Mrs. P. J. (Mollie) Noonan of Alexandria; Clara of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Fritz (Flora) Forkel of Alexandria; Mrs. Roberr J. (Rebecca) Seng of St. Paul. Other relatives left to mourn her passing are two brothers, Andrew and John Hess of Park Rapids, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services were held Monday at the residence and at Zion Lutheran church. The words of Rev. A. Bartz, who had known Mrs. Aberle for over fifty years, bore testimony of the high respect in which she was held in her church and in the community. Pallbearers were Reinhold Roth, Andrew Seger, William Paulus, Joe Zeller, Emil Lemkuhl and Walter Roth. Interment was in Kinkead cemetery.
