Funeral Service: Funeral services will be 11:00a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Knisley officiating.
Interment: Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park at Pikeville, Ky. with Military Rites officiated by Johns Creek Chapter 166 of the D.A.V
Ray Chapman, age 86 of Pikeville, passed away, Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was a retired Mine Inspector for the Department of Mines and Minerals. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army.
He was born at Kimper, Kentucky on October 6, 1922 the son of the late E.C. Chapman, Sr. and Fern Deskins Chapman.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, June Sparks, Tony Chapman, Bill Chapman, Ivan Chapman and Leary Varney.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Tackett Chapman and one son, Kenneth (Debra) Chapman of Louisville, Ky. and one daughter, Rene (Jim) Crum of Prestonsburg, Ky.
Eight brothers, brothers, Otto Chapman of Phelps, E.C. Chapman, Jr. of Kimper, Jack Morgan Chapman of Kimper, Russell Conley Chapman of Pikeville, Roger Chapman of Pikeville, Fon Chapman of Kimper, Cleo Chapman of Kimper and Curley Chapman of Kimper and two sisters, Gnevieve McMahon of Flint, Michigan and Magdelene Burres of Belveview, Michigan.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, Michelle L. Chapman, Nicholas O. Chapman and Michael Ray Crum.
Serving as Pallbearers will be, Allen Ray Maynard, Kent Chapman, Nargrattis Chapman, Roy Lee Chapman, Danis Chapman, Janis Chapman, Russell Lowell Chapman, Rodney Chapman, and Derrick Chapman.
