Married Johanne Heinrich (John Henry) Dienst in Wayne County, IN on June 2, 1845 (license signed on June 7).

Dienst, one of the early settlers of this county (Labette County, KS), who had been ill for several weeks, died at the old homestead, where she settled thirty-four years ago, in Osage Township yesterday afternoon at the advanced age of 75 yrs, 11 months and 4 days, leaving five grown sons and a grown daughter together with a large circle of acquaintances to mourn her loss. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
