Dennis Gene Cornwell, a native of Fredericksburg, died Friday, April 20, 2007. He was born Nov. 28, 1950.

Mr. Cornwell grew up on Liming Lane in Triangle. A U.S. Army veteran, he fought in the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a foreman for Tren Construction Co.

He was a NASCAR fan and a pit steward at Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, Md. He also enjoyed playing Texas Hold 'Em.
Survivors include his son, James "Jimmy" Cornwell of Florida; a sister, Valerie C. House and her husband, Jack D. House Jr., of Stafford County, where he resided; a younger sister, Joyce C. Gallahan and her husband, James, of King George County; three nieces, Jeana House, Tina Winn and Shannon Hamm; one nephew, Dana Gallahan; six great-nieces and two great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
