Joseph R. "Bob" Sylvia, Operations Manager, Florida Mining and Materials, Inc., Brunswick, Georgia, died on March 12, 1997, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Bob was 58.
Bob began his career in concrete construction with Glynn Concrete in 1960. He was an active member of Knights of Columbus in Brunswick and other charitable organizations. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and also a member of the Professional Clown Association. He was known affectionately as "Hitto."
Bob is survived by his wife Mildred, daughters Cathy Pittman of Brunswick, Terry Grimes of Ganado, Texas, sister Margie Sylvia of Brunswick, twin brother Billy of Brunswick, and 4 grandchildren.
Bob was a great benefactor to many people and will be sorely missed. We, the concrete industry, extend our deepest sympathy to his family. Bob will be missed by his friends in the concrete industry.
