Asa Lyman Croup, 80, one of the Shippenville's oldest settlers, died at 1 p.m. Monday, March 26, in his home. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Croup he was born in 1870 in Butler County. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Loretta Croup; a daughter, Mrs. Alma Marchinke of Oil City; two sons, Samuel of Franklin, and Norman of Shippenville; a sister, Mrs. Lula Akers of Shippenville, and nine grandchildren. The body was taken to the Joseph MacMillan funeral home Shippenville, and returned to the family home where prayers services will be held at 2 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Emmanuel Lutheran church in Shippenville. Interment in church cemetery."
