You were one of the best pitchers of the 1880s. Won 60 games in 1884 with 441 strikouts in 73 complete games. In 11 seasons you won 310 games, won 20 or more nine times and finished 484 of 497 games that you started. Unfortunatly you died at the age of 43. Rest in peace.

Hoss--
Your flame burned bright for a short time, but lord knows what a legend you made. Here we are after so much time saying we miss you. Sorry we fans didn't make you feel more welcome after you left the game...you were the best!
See ya soon enough.

Dear 'Old Hoss'

I wish we could have met. Your about 100 years older than me but I sure would love to hear the stories you could tell. I think I would feel right at home back in your era. Baseball in the daytime and drinking at night. Knockdowns, bushbacks, spitters and finishing what you start!
