The Avery-Hay homestead at the
corner of Main and Walnut streets,
was a scene of gaiety Saturday afternoon
due to a reunion of the Avery
family, held in honor of the 61st
birthday anniversary of Dr. Charles
B. Avery of El Dorado, Kan. Twenty
two, including members of the family
and a few other guests, were present.
Dinner was served at long tables
placed on the lawn, and when everything
was ready for serving a group
picture was taken of the company by
Photographer Hills.
The tables were handsomely decorated
with flowers, the place of honor
decorated with 61 pink candles.
Dr. Avery in whose honor the reunion
was held is the youngest member
of a large family of children of
which his brother, Rufus G. Avery,
who is nearly 83 years old, is the
oldest. There are three other brothers
and two sisters living, all of whom
were present at the gathering on Wednesday.
