On April 29, 1850 as Harriet B. Tipton, she married Thomas Dunn at Cass County, Indiana.

Los Angeles Times February 13, 1887
Death of Mrs. Dunn
Mrs. Harriet B. Dunn, wife of Colonel Thomas S. Dunn, United States Army, died at Santa Monica on Thursday evening, 10th inst., aged 57 years. Her illness was of very brief duration and to many of her friends the announcement of her death will be the first notice of her sickness.

Mrs. Dunn was the daughter of General John Tipton of Indiana. General Tipton's name is a prominent one in the early history of that State, he having served as a United States Senator for one full term and for a potion of a second term and having been identified previously in the defense of the State from hostile Indians, participating particularly with General Harrison at the Battle of Tippecanoe. Subsequently he deeded the land on which that battle was fought to the State of Indiana for a public park. The funeral services of Mrs. Dunn were held at Santa Monica yesterday and the body deposited in the cemetery at that place.
