On October 12, 1935, he was united in marriage to Lila Louise Marshall. To this union 5 children were born.
Larry, (died 1939), Jane and Janet, both of Mason, Gen of Suttons Bay, and Jo of Texas. Others who survive are son-in-law, Lange Somerville, daughters-in-law, Linda (Gene) and Toni (Jo) Allen, and grandchildren, Scott and Tim Somerville, Derek Allen, Tammi Jordan, Joli and Christi Allen.
Mr. Allen was an area dairy farmer for 40 years before retiring to raise, show and enjoy his lifelong love of draft horses.
He served as Aleidon Township Constable and was a member of Ingham County Farm Bureau, National Farmer Organizatin and Draft Horse Friends of Michigan.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 27, 1986 at Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel, East Lansing with Rev. Dr. John E. Cermak, pastor of Okemos Community Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of Michigan.
