Peter E. and Mildred A. (Larson) Anderson of Erwin, South Dakota, were blessed on July 28, 1937, with the birth of their second child, a beautiful little girl that they named Phyllis Elaine. In the years that followed, Phyllis grew through childhood and into womanhood with a loving family that consisted of her parents, older sister Doris, and younger siblings Maxine, Marilyn, Dennis, Marvin and Beverly.
In the early 1950's, Peter and Mildred decided to relocate their family to the Wichita, Kansas area where jobs were plentiful and they could escape the difficulties of trying to live by farming in the harsh South Dakota climate. It was here that Phyllis concluded her basic schooling, excelling with her scholastic abilities and participating in other activities such as a twirling majorette in band.
As the years passed, Phyllis eventually married and became the mother of two sons and two daughters; Dan, David, Vickie and Carla. No mother ever loved her children more than she loved these young ones. Her marriage, however, eventually faltered and failed.
In the following year, however, she had met the man that she came to think of as the true love of her life. On a hot and windy August 22, 1976, she married Lyle Fulton in his former home town of Concordia, Kansas. The wedding took place in the First Methodist Church, officialy witnessed by lifelong friends Robert and Phyllis Shanks with a reception following in the Shanks home. Among the many guests in attendance were the new couples parents, three of their six children and many friends.
When Phyllis married Lyle, she acquired two more children, Laura and James Fulton. Although these were step-children, she soon came to love them as her own, just as Lyle soon came to love his newly aquired step-children as his own. At about this time in her life, she began to favor the use of her middle name rather than her first. Nearly everyone now knew her as Elaine.
The newly married couple made their home in St. Louis for many years, working hard, playing hard and raising their family. They loved their boat and greatly enjoyed the many boating adventures in nearby lakes and the mighty Mississippi River.
The years passed by all too quickly. Elaine and Lyle had made their home in St. Louis for many years, but soon it was time to retire. In late 1996, it was decided to leave St. Louis with its cold and wet winters and to relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple had visited this city many times and simply loved it for its beauty and the climate.
In 1998, Elaine and Lyle delighted in watching the construction of their first real house designed and built just for them, seeing it grow from the bare desert floor to become a really cute and pretty home that they absolutely delighted in.
As much as this couple loved their home, the national real estate market after a few years was such that the house had increased in value to such a surprising amount that they could not afford to pass up the opportunity to profit from its sale. People were moving into southern Nevada in droves and in spite of the extreme and rapid increase in real estate values, homes were selling as quickly as they became available. Consequently, in November of 2005 the house was sold within days of being listed and Lyle and Elaine had no choice but to leave Las Vegas, as purchasing another home there would have taken the profit they had just acquired.
The couple moved to Denison, Texas in late November 2005. This north Texas location allowed them to be much closer to their six children, all of them being located within a few short hours drive of Denison.
The profit from the sale of the home in Las Vegas made it possible for Elaine and Lyle to purchase a beautiful, new, four bedroom, brick and native stone house in Denison. Phyllis Elaine truly loved this house, as it far surpassed any home that the couple ever thought they might be able to afford.
