Funeral service for Boyd Simpson is today, Oct 23 at 12 noon in the Thayne Stake Center.
There will be a viewing from 10:30 a.m. to time of service.
Boyd Simpson, 71, retired Thayne businessman died Oct 18, 1997.
Funeral services were held Thursday Oct 23, 1997 at the Thayne LDS 2nd Ward. Interment Thayne Cemetery.
He was born Sept 23, 1936 in Bedford to James and Eunice VanLeuven Simpson.
As a youngster he worked with his family on the farm. When he was 12 years old, his family moved to another farm in Thayne. Following graduation from Star Valley High School, he served one year in the U.S. Navy.
Later he left the family farm and purchased Farmer's Feed Store. Through that business he became acquainted with many fine people.
He married Thea Harrison Sept 7, 1950 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served for two years in the Northwestern States Mission. His church service included 12 years in two bishoprics, high councilor, ward mission leader, Sunday School teacher and assistant high priest group leader. He and his wife served one year in the Nashville Tennessee Mission and were currently serving as officiators in the Idaho Falls Temple.
He was a long time Boy Scout leader serving as scoutmaster, stake Venture leader and Star Valley District Scout Chairman. He received the Silver Beaver Award, Meritorious Service in 4-H and was named Star Valley farmer of the Year.
His hobbies were memorizing poems and scriptures, fishing and working in his vegetable and flower garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Royal Simpson.
Survivors include his wife of Thayne; sons Steven Simpson and Nolan Simpson Thayne; Evan Simpson and Dahl Simpson, Afton; brothers and sisters James Corwin Simpson, Cascade ID ID; Jesse Simpson Lloyd Simpson and Velma Broadbent all of Thayne, Glenna Erwin, Idaho Falls, Clarice Call, Heber City UT and 19 grandchildren
