Robert "Bob" James Beck, age 83, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Aransas Pass, Texas, passed away at his daughter's home in Georgetown, Texas on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 5, 1925 to parents Virgil Beck and Grace (Lee) Beck. He was a World War II Veteran who retired from the VA and State. Bob was an avid fisherman and a rose gardener. He loved his "DAWG".
He is survived by his daughters, Debi Montgomery and husband Pat of Rockne, Texas and Wendy Hixon and husband Steve of Georgetown, Texas; former wife, Winifred Beck of Austin, Texas; brother, Edwin Beck and wife Betty of Gonzales, Louisiana; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 7, 2009 in the chapel of the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas with Reverend Dr. Ann Hagmann officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's honor to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road Suite 100, Austin, TX 78749.
