Newspaper obituary:
David Emery, his wife, and child victims of the flu..."sympathy goes out to the doubly orphaned little girl and eight months old baby boy, who are all that is left of the family. Mr. Emery was taken ill the first of the week, and the entire family contracted the disease within a few days. The little girl four years old, was the first to succumb and died Saturday. Mrs. Emery passed away Sunday and Monday morning the death angel released the spirit of the father from its mortal clay. The funeral took place Wednesday and all three were buried in the same grave, and by his request the burial service was conducted by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of which the deceased father was a member."

David E. Emery, his wife Edythe Viola Rumrill Emery and their youngest daughter Mildred Rosemund Emery died within three days of each other from pneumonia. Their other two children, Gladys Mahalla and Francis Robert Emery were left orphans. Gladys Mahalla Emery Lionberger is my Mother.
