She was a retired social worker for the Area Agency on Aging at Green, O.
She was born Nov. 19, 1956, in West Hamlin, W.Va., and was the daughter of Kesleen Sias Adkins, with whom she resided, and the late Shelby Adkins. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Debra L. Schlichting.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Massillon and a graduate of the University of Akron. She was a strong supporter of the Special Olympics program and had a soft spot in her heart for stray and abandoned animals. Drema had a special relationship with her nieces and nephews and relished taking them to places of interest like zoos or museums.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother, Everett (Lori) Adkins of Massillon, O.; two nieces, Mrs. Tim (Julie) Duncan of Canton, O., and Ashley Schlichting, who was like a daughter to her, of the home; two nephews, Kevin Adkins of Canton and Justin Adkins of Massillon; a great-nephew, Aiden Duncan of Canton, and her aunt, Ava Holder of North Lawrence, O.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Milo Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
