Beloved by not only her family but her neighbors. Known to the neighborhood children as "Grandma Mary". She had an open door policy. Many used it, a few abused it, but the children were never turned away. She always greeted them with a treat and a hug. One small boy in particular got needed hugs from her until his broken and abused body was found in the field nearby. Murdered by his parents. The only time I ever heard my Grandmother speak ill of anyone (speaking of the little boys parents)and she asked forgiveness from God for her feelings. A truly special lady.
